Winter is here.....

Picture

Wooow winter is here.

We are already in December. A cool month ( pun intended️) . We all generally wait for this month. School children for their Christmas holidays & gifts from dear Santa, young generation for their new winter collections and fashion accessories for parties, grown ups for a break & new year parties.

Everyone is charged up for exercise, as everyone wants to look best in social parties, selfies. Early morning exercises, walk, jog are common sights this month.

I too am conscious about my health so I try and get up early & go for my exercises.
Two days ago with same enthusiasm I reached the Race Course for my early morning walk & jog.

Woow!!! It was a beautiful morning after a November rain (GNR fans anyone️) day. The lovely open space was blanketed in thick fog and everyone was enjoying their morning routine with a new excitement.

After finishing my routine I reached home and had a piping hot morning tea with news paper in my hand.
Oh oh , a front page news struck my eyes ' Beijing on SMOG ALERT, Delhi silently chokes' . Of course you don't like to read these kind of news on beautiful morning. But sadly that is the fact.
While jogging on the Race course I felt the same thing. What I was experiencing was not only fog but it was mixed with smoke, smoke of various polluting factors. But as we live in urban developed cities we have to face these kind of things.

Now how this Smog can affect us is the question in our mind. It's very simple it aggravates our Allergies & Respiratory problems. So does it mean we should not exercise? No it's not the solution, but yes if we already have Allergies, Asthma, bronchitis, hay fever we should avoid going out in smog. On those particular days you can exercise may be at home or in the gym. On other days you should again continue your routine.
The most importantly you need to build up your immune system with the help of healthy food, exercises & whenever required natural based medicines.

So don't stop your routine but continue it wisely & enjoy this part of the year.

Welcome winter wisely!
Live Winter Happily!

I am Happy today!!

Today morning very excitedly we ( my son , my wife, myself ) got up early ,got ready & rushed to son's school to attend sports day. While driving there I was thinking we will be the earliest excited parents to reach there. But to my surprise many parents were already waiting there with the same excitement as I had. I really felt very happy.

After some time filled with zest in parents, children, school staff the event started.  We all could see the enthusiasm & energy in all the participants. All were ready with their needed  gears & were waiting impatiently for the races. The same I could see in all school staff & also in parents. What energy that was!!!!

All the children did really great. It was very pleasurable to see all the parents & school teachers & other staff were encouraging all the children.
At that time one thought sparkled in my mind do we really need any specific thing, event or anybody to make us feel happy? Only looking at all that energy at that moment was making everyone happy.

After that event whole day There was only this one  Kishor Kumar's song was in my mind
Aane wala pal, jaane wala hai , Ho sake to isme zindagi bitalo, pal jo ye jaane wala hai

Meaning- This moment that is about to come is about to slip away swiftly, so if possible live your life in this moment.

I am happy in this moment.
I am happy today.

Music as Therapy!

Picture
Om - A mystically soothing sound. Either you listen to it or say it, it always takes us in different zone. A zone of quietude, serenity, tranquility. But have you ever imagined that Omkar is also a  sound form. So it proves that sound forms plays a major role on our mental tranquility.
When you say any sound form in a specific way or I should say in specific frequency which is proportional to the other sound frequency it becomes Music. Music which has the capability to make you feel emotional, energetic, sad, happy etc.
World wide it is accepted after many researches that music & different sound forms has  different different effects on your Mind & Body. With the reference of this fact we can say that Music can be used in therapeutic healing too.

“Music is the mediator between spiritual and sensual life”
-         Beethoven

Music as Beethoven said is a mediator in life, today there are different genres of music for every individual. Music is what expresses your feelings, like art, music speak to your soul. For happiness or sadness, for birth, death, marriage, parties, festivals everybody turns to music.

“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
-
Bob Marley

Reasons why music works as therapy:

1.    Music is a core function in our brain: our brain is primed early on to respond to and process music. Research has shown that day old infants are able to detect differences in rhythmic patterns. Mothers across the world use lullabies and rhythmic rocking to calm their crying babies. Our brains are wired to respond to music even though it’s not essential for our survival.

2.    Our bodies entertain to rhythm: have you ever been doing a chore and humming as well? That’s called entertainment. Our motor systems naturally match a rhythmic beat. When a musical input enters our central nervous system via the auditory nerve, most of the input goes to the brain for processing but some of it heads straight to motor nerves in our spinal cord. This makes our muscles move to the rhythm without us having to think or try.

3.    We have psychological responses to music: each time your breathing quickens, your heart rate increases or you feel a shiver down your spine that’s a signal that your body is responding psychologically to music.

4.    Music taps into our emotions: have you heard any song or music and felt happy or sad? Music taps into our emotional systems whether it’s from music itself or associations of music. We can use this in a therapeutic way.

5.    Music helps improve attention: music therapists target their patient’s attention and impulse control goals to improve and function and succeed.

6.    Music enhances learning: we teach our children ABCs through songs right? The inherent structure and emotional pull toward music makes it an easy tool for teaching concepts, ideas, and information. Music not only makes it easy to learn but also easy to recall later.

In India Hindustani classical Music have been acclaimed to have calming effects on the human body, mind and soul. Proper ragas of Indian classical music are found to stimulate the brain, relieve the tension and alleviate the fatigue when listened regularly. This Hindustani classical  music therapy does not actually treat the signs and symptoms but it makes the brain stronger and capable enough to battle the diseases.
Ancient science like Ayurveda believes that most of the health problems occur due to the imbalance in Vaat ,Pitta, Kapha. Hindustani classical music if used in specific way may benefit people in balancing this Tridoshas.

In ancient scriptures and story tales, the Hindustani classical ragas of India have been effectively used to help People. For example raga called MALHAR can bring rains. Similarly, DEEPAK raga can light the candles when needed.
As its mentioned on Wikipedia, “According to a legend, once the Mughal emperor Akbar asked his court musicianTansen to sing Raga Deepak, the raga of fire. The effect was such that all the lamps in the courtyard lit up themselves, and Tansen’s body became so hot that he had to sit in the nearby river to cool himself. However, the river began to boil, and it became apparent that Tansen would soon boil to death. He set out on a search to find someone who could sing Raga Malhar to cure him. In due course he reached Vadnagar, in Gujarat, where he found two sisters, Tana and Riri, whom he asked for help. They agreed to sing Raga Malhar to cure him. When they sang the Raga, rains came down in torrents, which cooled Tansen’s body immediately.”

Are your kids dreading to go back to school after Vacations?

Are your kids dreading to go back to school after Vacations?

Picture

Going back to school after a long summer vacation seems so tedious.  Let’s be realistic nobody likes going back to their daily monotonous routine and adhering to the strict weekly timetable. With the beginning of a new academic year makes all the good summer memories fade away. As the strict bed time and early morning wakeup calls are coming close and children are realizing that their leisure time will be replaced by homework and assignments it gives them anxiety and hatred towards school. A few more things that gives your child anxiety are new teachers, new class, new faces, etc. does your child squirm on the topic of school? As a parent it is a difficult task to understand and cooperate with you.

Talk to your child about why they are nervous about starting school again: ask your child if he is scared that he will struggle with upcoming school work or if he is anxious because he will have to participate in sports and other compulsory classes. Another issue of schools is bulling, your child might not open up to you but must be suffering and dreading school because he is bullied. Reminding your child of how he enjoyed the previous year and what challenges and experiences he will have in the coming year is something to look out for. You should also try to gradually install and set bed time so that they do not struggle after school reopens. Be organized before school reopens and arrange school book, pencils, uniforms etc. before the school year begins. Summer changing into monsoon causes different effects on your children like infectious diseases, extreme weather related conditions, heat stress, and respiratory disease.  The World Health Organization estimates that more than 88% of the existing global burden of disease is caused due to climate change occur in children. So we need to deal not only the Emotional effects but also physical illnesses.

Parenting Adolescents!!!

Picture

Each one of us has been through our adolescent phase and each of our parents has dreaded us reaching this phase. It is in today’s generation that adolescence is worse in teenagers. Adolescence is a period of rapid active growth and development of physical, sexual, social and emotional level. As we all know almost every teenager and parents are known to have problems in understanding and communicating with each other. This young sweet child of yours who was cheerful and obedient suddenly became an adolescent with temper tantrums and rebellious. This article focuses on common concerns and changes in behavior of your child.

As your teenager grows into a healthy adult he/she must develop many strengths like positive self-image, independence, knowledge, curiosity and will to learn new things, obeying the law, respecting their sexual partner and their choices, spiritual choices, maintaining a good and healthy lifestyle. For many people these strengths are acquired during by their early 20s, during this time your role as parents changes from providing care and security to providing guidance. Your teenager still needs your guidance and support so that they can discuss their problems and fears; they also need to have rules about everything. It is during this phase that they learn about the consequences of their choices. When you as a parent fail to change from a controlling and protecting parent to one who discusses and does joint planning, this is where small issues become a big concern. You cannot descipline your children the way your parents disciplined you, each generation is different and you have to change with time.

Every teenager lies whether it is to avoid revealing any personal information or to avoid punishment or confrontation. A very commonly used term” peer pressure” is used by everyone today, this is because your child like everyone else’s is surrounded by their friends from school or society or tuitions. It is your duty to try and make your child realize who he should be friends with or let him realize the hard way. Then there are argumentative teens who are the most difficult to handle. Moodiness is very common and universal among every teen. It is during this time that parents and teens get into raging arguments about respect and attitude problems. Teens do not realize how their behavior affects their families. If you as parents argue or fight constantly with your partner that is what your child will pick up and follow your footsteps. Here is what the best thing to do if you are a parent of an argumentative teen, remain calm, be approachable, take time to talk to your teen and figure out a way that they always communicate with you.

Stress in the Corporate World.

Stress in Corporate world
Every individual handles stress in different ways. Stress related problems are higher in the corporate world than in other fields of work. A corporation is a company consisting of people authorized to act as one. Many people, many minds trying to act as one. So you can imagine the scenario.

One of the main reasons that stress is a rising trend in the corporate world is “COMPETITION” and “MONEY”. With population growing so fast in corporate industries, how can you not expect stress at your work place? Every man today wants a lavish lifestyle and they work to achieve what they want. They work so much that they forget the purpose of life, but that’s a topic for another day.  What they don’t realize is that this stress is eating them alive and it is not only affecting them but is also affecting their work and family.

Let’s inform you a little about stress related diseases:

Stress not only makes you awfully emotional but also is a big threat to your body. It increases the risk of conditions like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, depression, gastrointestinal problems, asthma etc. These are some commonest conditions what we see in corporate world.

Heart diseases: stress is one of the major causes of high blood pressure and heart problems. Stress directly increases heart rate and blood flow causing the release of cholesterol and triglycerides into the blood stream. People who have chronic heart problems should avoid acute stress and learn how to skillfully manage it.

Asthma: many studies have shown that asthma worsens due to stress. Evidence also states that a parent’s chronic stress might even increase the risk of developing asthma in their child.

Obesity: Emotional eating term which is related with eating during stress is one of the causes for Obesity. And also some hormonal changes in your body due to stress can stimulate Obesity.

Diabetes: Stress worsens diabetes in two ways; firstly it increases bad behavior in a person like eating unhealthily, excessive drinking etc. Secondly stress raises glucose levels of people with type 2 diabetes.

Headaches: stress is one of the main causes that trigger headaches, not just regular headaches but migraines as well.

Depression: It is no surprise that chronic stress is connected with high rates of depression.

Gastrointestinal problems: Stress definitely doesn’t cause ulcers but worsens it for sure. It causes heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, etc.

                                                                                     Homoeopathy for Stress:

For all your stress related problems give homeopathy a try and be sure to be healed as it is a holistic practice. Homeopathy recognizes that each of you is unique and different and treats every individual accordingly. Here are some examples,

Argentum nitricum: is a treatment for you to take when it develops before a big event like a job interview, an exam, social gathering, marriage, etc.  Symptoms that will make you realize you need this treatment are fear, anxiety, and dizziness, diarrhea, craving for sweet or salty items.

Arsenicum album: is recommended for people who are deeply anxious about their health, order and security. They have panic attacks around midnight and early morning. They will always be fidgeting, pacing around from place to place. Symptoms: anxious, fearful, irritable and restless.

Of course you need to consult your Homoeopath before taking these, as every individual needs different medicines at different times. Taking these without consulting may not give you the required results.

                                                                                 Bach Flower remedies for Stress

Edward Bach an English homoeopath believed that dew found on flower petals has healing properties. Like for stress oak, elm, sweet chestnut, cherry plum give you inner strength, it also relieves the feeling that your body has crossed the limit of endurance, when you feel like you might explode  due to tension, you have a problem with your sleep routine, etc. All these remedies and more combined will help you through the Bach flower method.

                                                                                     Music Therapy for Stress

And lastly music, the power of soothing music is a well-established technique for healing stress. Listening to music has tremendous relaxing effects on our minds and bodies, especially slow, classical music. Studies have shown that it slows the pulse and heart rate, lowers blood pressure and decreases stress hormones.

Combining all three systems definitely has its own benefits which we provide at our center.
